Alors a mon avis ça a effectivement le même rôle que les ressorts. Sauf que ça m'a l'air d'être des ressorts de précision. (on voit que ce sont des ressorts). Le petit engrenage servirait a les tendre ou les détender très précisément... après j'y connais pas grand chose...

petite explication (en anglais)
