Your Only Lonely by J.D Souther From album: "Your Only Lonely" released in 1979. transcribed by William Palmer holy.chrome@verizon.net This file is "all my own work" and all that jazz...... The recording I listened to to work this out was off a "Sounds of the 70's" CD for 1979 and on that disc the song is titled: "You're the only one" but in looking around for info on the song I find it called "Your Only Lonely" on J D's original album so that's how I've listed it for the archive. While I've set this up to be played open and it works fine, to be in tune with the original recording set a capo at the second fret. The alternative is to play the song with bar chords shifted upward that doesn't sound remotely as good. You can mimic the piano runs (sort of) by throwing in intermediate notes between the chords here. For example: In the change between G and Em you can hit a single F# note as a run down to Em and then in heading from Em to C you can either hit a full G chord, or just a single G note, on your way up to C G Em C D G Em When the world . . . . to fall on your . . . shoulders C And when your . . . . . . . and small G you need somebody . . . . . hold you Em C D G You can . . . . my name when your only lonely Em C D G Now don^Òt . . . . be ashamed when . . only lonely Em C D G Em When you need . . . . . . . on the nights . . . .
